Biography

Craig McGuffie is a graduate of the Ayr United Football Academy and was promoted to the first team after two successful loan spells at Junior side, Glenafton Athletic and made his first team debut for Ayr United in a 1-0 defeat in League 1 at home to Albion Rovers at the end of the 2015-16 season.

The following season saw McGuffie break through in to the Ayr first team and he got his first goal for The Honest Men in a 2-0 win over Livingston in the League Cup group stage and later winning the Goal of the Competition for the Scottish Cup for his wonderful effort that put Ayr 1-0 ahead in a Quarter-Final tie with Hibernian at Easter Road with the Edinburgh side going on to win 3-1.

Although Ayr were relegated at the end of the 2016-17 season, the club took the decision to go full-time and McGuffie signed on once again, this time as a full-time player and scored in the 6-1 hammering of Annan Athletic in the League Cup group stage and went on to score further 3 goals in the league as Ayr went on to lift the League 1 championship on the final day.

McGuffie featured regularly in the first half of the 2018-19 season but was sent out on loan to Raith Rovers in League 1 in January.
