Match Report

Striker Michael Moffat celebrated the birth of his daughter with a double as Ayr United beat Alloa Athletic.

The match was delayed after traffic issues held up Ayr fans getting to Alloa but it proved worth the wait.

Moffat, whose wife Megan gave birth on Saturday morning, scored a powerful opener, only for Alan Trouten to level.

Lawrence Shankland's penalty restored the lead for title-chasing Ayr, and Moffat completed the scoring from close range despite not having slept.

Alloa manager Jim Goodwin: "It's very difficult when we give away the kind of penalty that we do. We are then chasing the game and the last goal was a sucker punch.

"We've been making too many mistakes, and today we gifted a penalty. These are the fine margins that can be game-changing."

Ayr United manager Ian McCall: "I felt we fully merited the three points, but Ross Doohan has had to make one very good save at 2-1.

"We thought about leaving Michael Moffat out - I phoned him this morning - but I'm glad I didn't."
