Biography

Ian McCall was appointed as Ayr United manager on 6th January 2015 following the dismissal of Mark Roberts and eventually saved the club from relegation from League 1 on the last day of the season at Station Park against Forfar Athletic. The following season saw him lead his Ayr side to finish in second place and win promotion to the Championship through the play-offs after defeating Stranraer in the final. Following promotion he saw his part-time side finish bottom of the league and relegated to League 1 after only one season in the Championship. The next season brought greater success, winning the League 1 title and beating Kilmarnock in the League Cup.
In season 2017/18 he once again took Ayr to the Championship overtaking Raith Rovers on the last match of the season to win League 1. He sensationally took Ayr to the top of the Championship in 2018/19 remaining there until January when Ross County topped the league. Nevertheless he led Ayr to the play offs losing to Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

He resigned to move to Partick Thistle on 22nd September 2019.
