Timeline

  • Signed For Ayr United

On 18 May 2017, Higgins signed for Scottish League One club Ayr United, deciding to go full-time after their recent relegation from the Scottish Championship, after leaving Queen of the South. Ayr Utd were promoted back to the Championship in 2018, and Higgins was loaned to League One club East Fife in February 2019.

  • Premiership Kilmarnock came to Somerset Park for the Betfred Cup Group E match on Friday night, high on hopes and backed by bookies’ confidence in their superiority over League 1 Ayr United. That, however, is not all it takes to win the Ayrshire Derby. United had passion, a desire to win, a non-stop work ethic, organisation, not a little skill and talent, and a roaring home support; that made all the difference.

  • Arbroath produced a spectacular team performance to defeat Ayr United who went into the match having won their first 3 league matches and scoring 32 goals in 9 competitive matches.

  • Last Appearance - Ayr United 2 - 3 ICT

Inverness Caledonian Thistle scored three times in the first 18 minutes to thwart Ayr United's hopes of returning to the Scottish Championship's summit.
