Match Report
Ayr controlled large spells through a compact back line and quick transitions, while Queens Park created several promising moments but were undone by fine defending, a penalty save, and two well-taken visiting goals.
The breakthrough came on 35 minutes. Scott McMann advanced from left-back and delivered a low cross that evaded the home defence; Dylan Watret arrived unmarked at the back post to fire home from close range for 1–0.
Ayr doubled their lead just after the hour. Ross Taylor’s drive was saved by Jack Wills, but the rebound was worked to the back post where Leon King headed across goal and Josh Landers reacted first to nod in from six yards for 2–0.
Queens Park pushed for a way back and struck both posts through Nikolay Todorov in a frantic second-half spell, but could not find a goal to change the outcome.
