Match Report

Ayr United edged past Arbroath by a single goal at Somerset Park on 11 April 2026, with Jamie Murphy scoring the decisive strike in a hard-fought Championship contest. It was a narrow but valuable home win for Ayr, who did enough in a tight match to claim all three points.

The game was played at a competitive tempo, with Arbroath coming into the fixture on the back of a difficult run and looking to halt their slide. Ayr, meanwhile, were determined to make home advantage count and found the breakthrough that separated the sides.

Murphy’s goal proved the difference, and once Ayr had gone in front they managed the match well enough to preserve their lead to the final whistle. Arbroath had their moments, but they were unable to find a response, leaving Somerset Park with another defeat.
