Match Report
Ayr United were beaten 3-0 by Raith Rovers at Stark’s Park on Friday night as the home side produced a ruthless, efficient performance to take all three points. Raith struck early, controlled the key moments and then finished the match strongly to leave Ayr empty-handed in Kirkcaldy.
Raith made the perfect start when Innes Cameron opened the scoring inside five minutes, lifting the ball over Max Thompson to settle the hosts and put Ayr on the back foot immediately. The early goal gave the Rovers confidence, and although the visitors tried to settle into the game, they struggled to create enough clear openings to draw level.
The second half brought more of the same, with Raith staying compact and waiting for the right moments to punish Ayr again. Cameron doubled the advantage on the hour mark with a close-range header, and shortly after that Chin made it 3-0 with a finish into an empty net after Ayr had been caught chasing the game.
Ayr did threaten in spells, but Josh Rae was rarely stretched for long periods and the home defence handled the pressure well to secure a clean sheet. By the final whistle, Raith had earned a convincing victory and their 15th league shut-out of the season, while Ayr were left to reflect on a night when early setbacks proved impossible to recover from.
