Match Report
Ayr started the game with purpose, looking to impose themselves at home and continue their push near the top end of the table. The opening exchanges were scrappy but competitive, with Morton content to stay organised and wait for moments to break, while Ayr worked to stretch the visiting back line.
The decisive moment arrived as Morton capitalised on a key chance to seize the lead, and from there the visitors dug in with real discipline. Ayr responded with pressure and possession, but the final pass and the final shot refused to fall their way, leaving the home support increasingly frustrated as time ran down.
Morton defended their advantage with determination, closing spaces and slowing the tempo whenever possible. Ayr pushed hard in the closing stages, but the equaliser never came, and Morton were able to leave Somerset Park with all three points after a hard-earned away performance.
