Match Report

Ayr United were held to a 1-1 draw by Arbroath at Somerset Park on 15 November 2025 in a lively Championship encounter. The home side struck late through Kieran Holt in the 87th minute to rescue a point after Arbroath had led from the 12th minute.

Arbroath made the brighter start and were ahead early when F. Marshall found the net to put the visitors in control. Ayr were forced to chase the game from that point, but the hosts kept pressing and eventually found the response they needed in the closing stages.

The equaliser gave Somerset Park renewed energy, and Ayr’s late pressure ensured the points were shared in a match that swung between frustration and relief for the home support. While Arbroath will feel they were close to a valuable away win, Ayr can take credit for their persistence and refusal to give in.

For Ayr United, it was another reminder of the fine margins in the Championship, where a strong finish can still be required to salvage a result. For Arbroath, the performance showed enough threat to suggest they will remain a difficult opponent in any meeting this season.
