Biography
Crawford made his first appearance for Ayr United in the final First Division game of the 2011-12 season in a 3-2 away defeat to Falkirk after coming through the clubs youth system.
The 2012-13 season saw Crawford break through in to the Ayr first team, despite The Honest Men struggling to adjust to life back in the Second Division under Mark Roberts. In his first full season in the first team, Crawford made 41 appearances as Ayr United finished in 7th place.
Despite impressing in his first full season in the first team, Mark Roberts had released Crawford at the start of the 2013-14 season and had a trial with Sheffield United, before eventually returning to Ayr for the start of the season.
Crawford signed up for another year and scored his first goal for Ayr United in March 2015 in a 2-1 defeat against Dunfermline Athletic at East End Park and was an important part of Ian McCall's side that secure their League 1 status on the final day at Forfar Athletic.
Ian McCall signed Crawford up for another season as the club looked to push to finally get out of the division and he turned out to be a big part, scoring two goals in the Championship play-offs against Peterhead, as Ayr went up on penalties against Stranraer.
Crawford remained with Ayr following promotion to Championship and scored on the opening day in the League Cup against Hamilton Academical. His next goal for the club was an amazing solo goal to give Ayr the lead against Hibernian at Easter Road (with the match finishing 1-1) and then getting an important winner at home to Dumbarton a few weeks later.
Although Ayr were relegated at the end of the season, the club took the decision to go full-time and Crawford re-joined, this time on full time terms and played in Ayr's 1-0 win over Kilmarnock in the League Cup and then scoring in the following two Group Stage games against Dumbarton and Clyde as well as two league goals, one in a 3-0 win at Somerset Park against Raith Rovers and an important equaliser against Airdrieonians, as Ayr went on to 2-1. Crawford was part of the first Ayr side to win a title in over 20 years.
Crawford stayed with Ayr as they looked to secure their Championship status and was an integral part of McCall's side that finished in fourth place.
