Match Report

Leaders Ayr United held on for a draw against Morton despite playing the last half-hour with 10 men.

United striker Craig Moore was given a straight red card for kicking out at Gregor Buchanan after being fouled by the Ton defender.

The visitors went on to hit the post through Gary Oliver before Buchanan's late header was cleared off the line by Michael Moffat.

Ayr's lead at the top of the Championship increased to five points.

But Ross County and Dundee United, who are chasing them, still have a game in hand over the Somerset Park side.

Post-match reaction
Ayr United manager Ian McCall: "We're content with a point given the way the second half panned out. The first half was pretty even and we were really poor.

"We started the second half well and then Craig Moore was daft and let his team-mates down. But his team-mates rallied round and made sure it wasn't too costly."

Morton manager Jonatan Johansson: "I'm very happy with the performance all game and we created enough both ion the first half and the second half to score that winning goal. A point and a clean sheet here is very good.

"Jim McAlister's very important to the team as a captain and a player. His passing was good and he was getting into the box as well which is what I want him to do."
