Match Report

Queen of the South's Connor Murray scored with his first touch to deny Ayr United a fourth consecutive win.

Michael Rose's header from Alan Forrest's corner had put the Honest Men in front a few minutes earlier.

Queens' captain Stephen Dobbie hit the inside of the post in a goal-less first half.

Lawrence Shankland and Craig Moore had a couple of half-chances for United but visiting goalkeeper Alan Martin dealt with those attempts.

The draw means Ayr's lead at the top of the Championship is increased to four points, given Ross county lost to Dundee United.

But what has gone is the hosts perfect record at Somerset Park this season.

Post-match reaction
Ayr United manager Ian McCall: "I'd love to see the possession stats, it must be between 60% and 70% to us. We were really dominant.

"I thought Stephen Dobbie had his boots on the wrong feet in the first half and then he nearly scores an absolute wonder goal. But we should have been 2-0 or 3-0 up and the game should have been put to bed."

Queen of the South manager Gary Naysmith: "Ayr have won all their games here, so for us to take a point and we've now taken four points from six from them - we've got to be pleased.

"I tried to play a more attacking formation right from the off and it didn't really work. It caused us problems deeper in the pitch. Young Connor Murray comes off the bench for the equaliser and that'll do him the world of good."
