Match Report

Hamilton Academical remain two points above seventh-placed Ayr United in the Scottish Championship after the sides drew at Somerset Park.

Tomi Adeloye had a header saved then saw his rising shot rattle the crossbar in early Ayr advances.

But it was the visitors who took the lead before half-time when Lewis Smith turned in on the rebound after David Moyo's header had been saved.

Adeloye headed Ayr level early in the second half.

Reaction & as it happened
A last-ditch challenge by Keiran MacDonald prevented Adeloye equalising before the break and Josh Mullin fired narrowly wide for Accies at 1-1.

Adeloye had another effort saved and team-mate Cameron Salkeld's shot was deflected wide as both sides settled for a draw.

Ayr United manager Jim Duffy: "When you create really good opportunities, you've got to take those opportunities or else they come back and bite you like happened towards the end of the first half when Hamilton scored. We had the best chance in the second half to get all three points. Overall, a tough match, a 1-1 draw was probably a fair result."

Hamilton head coach Stuart Taylor: "We did enough to go and win the game. Disappointed to lose the goal in the manner we did. Good to go ahead and the response after losing the goal, we still created chances. Really disappointed to only come away with a point."
