Match Report
Kris Doolan scored twice as Partick Thistle progressed into the semi-finals of the Alba Challenge Cup.
The Jags opened the scoring on three minutes when Doolan headed Paul Paton's cross into the top corner of the net.
And Doolan netted his second in the 33rd minute when he met Liam Buchanan's centre to guide home from 12 yards.
Ayr United reduced the deficit soon after, with Andy Rogers nodding in from six yards, and Thistle keeper Bryn Halliwell made a fine late save.
