Both sides are still looking for a league win this season after battling their way to a draw at Glebe Park.
A Michael Moore diving header put the visitors ahead on eight minutes but Brechin hit back with a sweet strike from Martin Johnson on 33 minutes.
Ayr regained their advantage 13 minutes before the end when Ryan Stevenson scored with a 20-yard drive.
But Brechin hit back with four minutes to go, Johnson flicking on for Iain Russell to score via the crossbar.
