Match Report
Airdrie's John Baird notched a hat-trick as they thumped First Division relegation rivals Ayr United.
The hosts threatened early on with William Easton and Kevin James spurning good headed chances.
Airdrie made them pay for their profligacy when Scott Gemmill fired home and Baird doubled their lead from Diarmuid O'Carroll's cross.
Dean Keenan equalised but Baird scored his second moments later and he sealed victory with his third in injury time.
The win moves Airdrie within five points of safety with three games to play, while Ayr are three points adrift of third-from-bottom Morton.
