Ayr United came from behind to claim a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Stranraer in the Scottish League Cup at Stair Park. The visitors twice recovered from a goal down, with Ben Summers and Ross Taylor on target before Taylor sealed the points with a late penalty. Stranraer had led through James Dolan’s first-half spot-kick and briefly regained the advantage after the break, but Ayr finished strongly to turn the tie around.
Ayr’s response after the interval was decisive, as Summers levelled before Taylor struck twice in a 19-minute spell to complete the comeback. The result gave Ayr a positive start to their League Cup group campaign and left Stranraer frustrated after allowing the lead to slip twice.
