Match Report
Ayr United made the brighter start and took the lead in the first half, with Anton Dowds getting on the scoresheet to reward the visitors’ early intent. The goal gave Ayr a platform to control spells of the game, and they carried their advantage into the interval.
Morton responded strongly after the restart and drew level through Aaron Lyall’s equaliser in the 47th minute. That goal transformed the tone of the contest, with the home side pushing forward more aggressively while Ayr were forced to defend deeper and look for chances on the break.
Neither team could find a decisive second goal, despite a lively finish and late substitutions aimed at tipping the balance. Ayr’s away point was a respectable return from a difficult venue, while Morton will have felt they had done enough in the second half to take more from the match.
