yr United came from 2-1 down to beat nine-man Partick Thistle and moves into second in the Scottish Championship.
Thistle led through Stuart Bannigan's penalty before Ryan Williamson's error allowed Luke McCowan to equalise.
Shea Gordon put the hosts back in front but was was sent off less than a minute later for a lunge on McCowan. Bannigan also saw red for a high foot on the same player with 20 minutes to go.
Thistle legend Kris Doolan levelled, before Stephen Kelly netted the winner.
Gary Caldwell's Thistle are now without a win in their first four league games and sit bottom of the Scottish Championship.
As for Ayr, their aim of reaching the play-offs looks realistic, even at this early stage of the season.
Partick Thistle manager Gary Caldwell: "I'm proud of the players, their efforts were outstanding on a very difficult day - 11 v 11 we were by far the better team. They stuck to their task and kept going.
"I thought the first red card was one but the second wasn't. We need a break, a result. It's a difficult one to take, we're very disappointed but there were reasons for it which were out of our control."
Ayr United manager Ian McCall: "I was just pleased we won. You don't always win games when the opposition goes down to 10 or even nine.
"The winning goal was a class goal from a class footballer. Zanatta is a good player, I tried to sign him this week but couldn't afford him."
