Match Report
Ayr United sealed Scottish League One safety and finally ended Forfar Athletic's title hopes with victory at Station Park.
Forfar started the day level on points with leaders Greenock Morton and went ahead, Dale Hilson winning and converting a penalty.
Ayr levelled with a spot-kick of their own, Jon-Paul McGovern scoring, and Forfar's Michael Dunlop was sent off.
Jordan Preston headed Ayr in front and Alan Forrest's got their third.
And while Ian McCall's Ayr finished eighth in the division, Forfar have to settle for third and a promotion play-off semi-final against league runners-up Stranraer.
