Match Report
Ayr moved out of the relegation play-off place, but could have taken all three points against 10-man Brechin.
Robert Crawford and Michael Donald spurned chances for the hosts, before Andrew Jackson scored for Brechin with a fine right-footed finish.
Ayr scored twice in eight minutes through a Brain Gilmour header and a Jon-Paul McGovern penalty.
Paul McLean equalised, but they had to hold on after Callum Tapping's two yellow cards within 35 seconds.
