Match Report
Alan Trouten's penalty gave Ayr their first points of the Scottish League One season against 10-man Brechin.
United had taken the lead when Alan Forrest headed home Brian Gilmour's corner after a dominant opening.
Brechin levelled when Robert Thomson got on the end of Craig Molloy's cross and headed home.
But Graeme Smith was penalised for an infringement, Trouten slammed home the resulting spot-kick and the goalkeeper was then sent off for violent conduct.
