Match Report
Cowdenbeath secured a two-goal victory against a spirited Ayr United side.
The visitors started brightly and went close through Ian Anderson and Dean Keenan to opening the scoring.
But Paul McQuade, on trial with Cowdenbeath, broke the deadlock with a 15-yard shot which evaded the grasp of goalkeeper Mark McGeown.
McGeown was then withdrawn through injury and McQuade's shot was blocked by sub keeper Fraser Stewart, but John Dempster followed up to score.
