Match Report
Queen of the South's promotion hopes were ended as struggling Ayr held them to a point at Somerset Park.
Victory for Dunfermline means it is arithmetically impossible for Queens to finish fourth, with the Dumfries side also clear of any relegation threat.
Mark McKenzie came close for the visitors in the first half but neither side could find a breakthrough.
Ayr sneak out of a relegation play-off place on goal difference with a trip to Inverness to go on Friday.
Queen of the South finish their campaign at home to Dundee.
