Match Report
This was a Scottish Cup quarter-final replay. Motherwell got the winner in the final minute of extra time. The crowd was 27,000 on a Wednesday afternoon. On the Saturday the drawn tie at Ayr had drawn a sold-out crowd of 22,152. The ticket allocation for that first game caused a bus strike. About 200 drivers and conducters at the Western SMT Depot in the Sandgate came out on strike because they were denied a "promised" block booking of tickets. The club denied all knowledge. Buses to Dalmellington, Annbank, Tarbolton, Glasgow, Kilmarnock, Troon and Girvan were affected. The photo shows Ayr goalkeeper Len Round in action in the Fir Park replay
