Peterhead denied Ayr United the chance to top Division Two following a spirited comeback by the visitors at Somerset Park.
Two Mark Roberts penalties, awarded for fouls by Stuart Ross and Stuart Smith, put Ayr in command in the first half.
Graeme Sharp pulled one back for Peterhead nine minutes after the break with an 18-yard shot.
David Ross's left-foot shot levelled matters on 64 minutes and the visitors had chances to steal a victory.
