Full Results Against Gelfe IF

Ayr United have played Gelfe IF of Sweden on two separate tours of that country, once in 1998 and the second time in 2000.

Gefle IF is a Swedish football club located in Gävle, the club’s name being the old spelling of the town. The club, formed 5 December 1882, is currently playing in the highest Swedish league, Allsvenskan. Gefle IF and Bryns IF merged and played under the name Gefle IF/Brynäs between the 1979 and 1981 seasons, the merger being split up again in 1982.

The first encounter, played on 23rd July 1998, ended in a 2-1 defeat for Ayr in front of 2,700 fans, Findlay scoring for Ayr.

In their second visit on 23 rd July 2000 Ayr failed to take revenge on their first match defeat, the score being 1-0 for the Swedish side.

This time, however, only 317 fans turned.

A four sheet programme for the 2000 match was produced.
