Full Results Against Drammen

Drammen is one of the larger cities in Norway with about 93,000 people, and lies about 47 km from the capital of Norway, Oslo. The city centre lies at the end of a valley straddling the river Drammenselva, and where the river meets the Drammensfjord. Drammen is also the main harbour for car and fruit import in Norway. The City’s name is an old Norse form of the city’s name Drafn, and this was originally the name of the inner part of Drammensfjord.

The fjord is, however, probably named after the river Dramselva (Old Norse: Dröfn), and this again is derived from the old word dröfn, which meant “wave”.

Scant details are available for Ayr’s final match in their 1928 Scandinavian tour even to the point of no date being recorded for their last match against Norwegian side Drammen.

The match probably occurred on 31st May or 1st June 1928.

The score, however, was in no doubt – a 6-3 win for Ayr giving them four wins out of five on their tour.

No programme was produced.
