Crusaders Football Club is a professional Northern Irish football club playing in the NIFL Premiership. The club, founded in 1898,Crusaders hails from Belfast and plays its home matches at Seaview.
Crusaders originally played as a junior team, and then played intermediate football until 1949, and during that time they were one of the top non-league teams in the country, winning the Intermediate League nine times and the Steel & Sons Cup on seven occasions. After the withdrawal of Belfast Celtic, Crusaders were elected in their place in time for the start of the 1949/50 season.
Since then the club has won 28 senior trophies including seven league titles, four Irish Cups, two League Cups, eight County Antrim Shields, one Setanta Sports Cup, two Gold Cups, three Ulster Cups and one Carlsberg Cup.
The club’s colours are red and black. Ayr United beat Crusaders by 2-1 in a pre -season friendly on 19th July 2008.

Exactly 6 years later to the day the clubs met in another pre-season friendly on 19th July 2014, this time at Somerset park where a 1-1 draw was fought out.
