Match Report

Ayr United remain top of the Championship after beating managerless Dundee United at Somerset Park.

The prolific Lawrence Shankland slotted the ball under goalkeeper Benjamin Siegrist to give Ayr the opener.

Matty Smith threatened either side of half-time, but Siegrist denied Shankland a second and substitute Declan McDaid should have scored from Fraser Fyvie's poor back-pass.

McDaid hit the crossbar before he did make it 2-0 with a far-post volley.
